The technique is where we create a self made template.
From either a pattern or image of our own.   
Several colors of oil pastel pigment is placed on the template
and when SMUDGED from the  template on to the finished paper,
the blending of several colors together gives the shape depth and interest. 
A hard edge can be smudged or a feathery look, if so desired. 
It is working in both or either of the positive and negative shapes of your template.

With only a few lessons the technique will sink in
and you will begin to view creating art and the world in a different way.  
​Focusing primarily on the simple shapes that surround us.
